Sonic Cherry Limeade Recipe

Summer is here…the kids are home…it’s 2 p.m…you know what that means! It’s Sonic time! We love Sonic’s Happy Hour, but unfortunately the closest restaurant to us is about an hour away. So what’s the next best thing? Make our own Cherry Limeade that tastes just like Sonic’s!

It seems like the days of relaxing on the porch or deck during the Summer are gone. When I was growing up, we spent our Summers playing with friends, gathering around the picnic table for a game of cards, or spending the weekend at the campground with friends and family.

Life is much different now. And I have to say, I often long for those easy, relaxing evenings on the deck, simply spending time together as a family. So hopefully our favorite drink recipes will be a way to inspire you all (and ourselves) to gather the family and enjoy some much needed down time this Summer.

This Cherry Limeade is very easy, the only tricky part was the cherry syrup. We ended up using cherry ice cream topping and just straining out the cherries to get just the syrup. The good part though, you only need 2 tablespoons per glass. And that and juicing the limes are the hardest part about putting these together. Even the kids can join in and you can make it a family experience just like enjoying it at Sonic in person.

Instructions
  1. Pour cherry syrup into a tall glass, add juice of lime

We used cherry ice cream topping and strained the syrup out. The original recipe said you could also use grenadine, but it will be bitter. We did not try the grenadine. Original recipe from CopyKat Cookbook
